What it means to be single at heart
If you are “single at heart,” single life suits you. You are not single because you have “issues” or just haven’t found a partner yet. Instead, living single is a way for you to lead your most meaningful and authentic life. Even people who are not single may be single at heart.
If you see yourself as single at heart in many ways (even if not in all ways), I would love to hear more about your life, in your own words. You can click the link below to access the questionnaire, fill it out, and email it back to me. You may want to read the brief description of the questionnaire (beneath the link) first.

This Questionnaire Is Long, But You Only Need to Write Out Your Answers in the First Section, “Questions to Answer in Your Own Words”
I’m Bella Depaulo, a social scientist who has spent decades studying single life. I am asking these questions so I can better understand the lives of people who are single at heart. I will be writing a book, and probably some other articles as well, and I would like to be able to refer to other people’s experiences and not just my own.
There are 4 sections. It should not take long at all to complete the last 3 sections, since you don’t need to write anything out. The first section is where you describe your experiences in your own words. There are lots of questions, but you can skip some of them if you wish or just write short answers.
- Questions to answer in your own words.
- Background information.
- Single at heart survey.
- Consent form.
Thank-you for your help with this.
