At a campaign rally a few days ago, South Carolina Republican Senator Jim DeMint proclaimed that single women who are sleeping with their boyfriend should be banned from classroom teaching. It is a position he has been championing since at least 2004.
Someday when the history of singlism is written, it will be said that in the year 2010, a sitting senator wanted single women to pass a virginity test before they could be cleared for classroom teaching.
There is no word yet on how DeMint proposes to police single women’s sexual behaviors. Apparently, single men get a pass.
